Does ZENSO Kuro Daitto have side effects? Allergens, caffeine and who should ask first (2026)

Reviewed by Health Advisor Team

Short answer: ZENSO Kuro Daitto is a meal replacement classified as a food by NPRA. SGS screened it for 365 drugs and for heavy metals, and found none. Three things to watch: it contains milk and soy and is not lactose-free, so don't take it if you are allergic to either; the Coffee flavour has about 120 mg of caffeine a sachet, so choose another flavour if you are sensitive to caffeine; and don't use it to replace all three meals. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, on medication, managing a long-term condition or under 18, ask a doctor first.

What should I watch out for?

  • Milk and soy: it contains whey protein, milk protein in the fibre creamer, and soy protein, and it is not lactose-free. Don't take it if you are allergic to milk or soy.
  • Caffeine: the Coffee flavour has about 120 mg a sachet, roughly one Americano. If you are sensitive to caffeine, choose Chocolate or Vanilla Macadamia.
  • Iron supplements: if you take iron, keep it 2 hours apart from the Coffee flavour.
  • Not for all three meals: it is a meal replacement. Take one sachet a day in place of breakfast, or at most two a day in place of two meals, and eat the other meal normally.
  • Halal: the certificate covers Chocolate and Vanilla Macadamia only. Coffee isn't on it.

If you get ongoing discomfort, a rash or anything that worries you after drinking it, stop and ask a doctor.

Who should ask a doctor first?

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding: ask your doctor first.
  • On medication: ask your doctor first.
  • Long-term health condition: ask your doctor first.
  • Under 18: ask a doctor first.
  • Allergic to milk or soy: don't take it.

How is it different from dieting or fasting?

Dieting and fasting fight hunger head-on. You eat less on an empty stomach, give up within days, and eat back more. Kuro Daitto replaces one meal with the right one: about 130 kcal, with protein, fibre, konjac and 18 vitamins and minerals, and no added sugar. Fewer calories, without short-changing your body.
