LIVEON and blood sugar: can you drink it if your sugar is high?
Reviewed by Health Advisor Team
Short answer: LIVEON is not a blood-sugar-lowering product and not a medicine, and it can't replace any medication. "Anti-glycation" means working against glycation: sugar sticking to collagen and other proteins and making them stiff and old. If your blood sugar is high or you take diabetes medication, keep taking it, keep seeing your doctor, ask your doctor or pharmacist before adding LIVEON, and carry on with your usual blood tests.
Key points
| Your question | The answer |
|---|---|
| Does "anti-glycation" mean it lowers blood sugar? | No. It means working against glycation |
| Is LIVEON a medicine? | No. It's a health functional food, classified as food |
| Can I take it with diabetes medication? | Keep taking your medication; ask your doctor or pharmacist first |
| How much sugar is in it? | 2.7g of total sugars per sachet, from fruit; 11 kcal, fat-free |
| What did the Sirtmax® study find? | It's ingredient research and doesn't promise the same result from LIVEON |
| Should I keep testing? | Yes, on your doctor's usual schedule |
What does "anti-glycation" actually mean?
Sugar in the body can bind to proteins and glue them stiff, a little like caramel setting. When it binds to collagen and elastin, fibres that should be springy become rigid and brittle. That's glycation. It happens every day and adds up meal after meal.
The HbA1c on your blood test report is a glycation reading too: it shows how much of the protein in your blood has had sugar stick to it. So blood sugar and glycation are related but different. Blood sugar is how much sugar is in your blood; glycation is the mark that sugar leaves on your proteins. LIVEON works on the second one.
How does LIVEON work on glycation?
- Sirtmax® black turmeric (Japan): in lab data, it held back glycation end products (AGEs, the stiff "knots" left when sugar sticks to protein) 7 times better than the reference drug aminoguanidine.
- Giant knotweed: a natural source of resveratrol that, in research, also slows the formation of glycation end products.
- Vitamin C (100mg) and grape seed: support collagen against glycation.
- SOD Extramel® and Enzogenol®: antioxidants. Glycation and oxidation tend to travel together, so LIVEON covers both.
How should you read the Sirtmax® blood sugar study?
Sirtmax® has been tested in a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled human study: at 100mg a day for 7 weeks, fasting blood glucose and HbA1c fell significantly in the treatment group.
In plain words: "randomised" means groups were assigned by chance, "double-blind" means neither volunteers nor researchers knew who got the real thing, and "placebo-controlled" means one group took a version without the ingredient for comparison. It's a careful way to run a study.
But be clear about what it covers. This research was done on Sirtmax® itself, not on finished LIVEON, and it doesn't mean you'll get the same result. LIVEON isn't a blood-sugar-lowering product and doesn't replace medication or your doctor's advice.
What's the sensible approach if your sugar is high or you take medication?
- Keep taking your medication. Don't cut or stop it because you've started LIVEON.
- Ask your doctor or pharmacist first. Bring the box so they can see what's in it.
- Keep your blood tests and check-ups. Let your doctor read the numbers.
- Keep up your diet and exercise. Cutting down on sugar is right. Diet controls how much sugar goes in; LIVEON works inside your cells. Do both.
- Stop if something feels wrong, and ask your doctor.
Is the after-lunch slump linked to glycation?
Heavy eyelids after lunch and a sweet craving a couple of hours later are familiar to many of us. Sugar rushes in and drops off, and the more often it comes, the more often glycation happens. Sweet energy drinks hide the slump while their sugar speeds glycation up.
Frequently asked questions
Can LIVEON replace my diabetes medication?
No. LIVEON is a food, not a medicine, and it can't replace any drug. Many people treat it as a daily habit alongside their doctor's care.
Will my blood test numbers go down if I drink LIVEON?
We can't promise that. The Sirtmax® blood sugar study is ingredient research, and it doesn't mean you'll get the same result from LIVEON. Keep testing as usual and let your doctor interpret the results.
The drink has sugar in it. Will it push my sugar up?
Each 20ml sachet has 2.7g of total sugars from fruit, 11 kcal and no fat. If your blood sugar is high, check with your doctor before you start.
