Does MOVEON have side effects? Safety tests, who must not take it, and who should ask a doctor (2026 update)
Reviewed by Health Advisor Team
Short answer: MOVEON is a health functional food, not a medicine. SGS tested it for 365 drug compounds, including analgesics often hidden in joint products, and found none. Heavy metals were not detected either, an independent lab found no microbes, and it is JAKIM Halal. The most important point: it contains egg (Ovomet® comes from eggshell membrane, BonePep™ from egg yolk), so anyone allergic to egg must not take it. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, on medication or managing a long-term condition, ask your doctor or pharmacist first.
What safety tests has it passed?
| Test | Result |
|---|---|
| SGS drug screen | 365 drug compounds not detected, including analgesics often hidden in joint products |
| Heavy metals | SGS tested: not detected |
| Microbes | Independent lab: not detected |
| Halal | JAKIM Halal; Halvec Laboratories confirms no porcine ingredients |
| Manufacturing | GMP manufactured |
| Allergens | Contains egg (eggshell membrane, egg-yolk peptide) |
What should you watch out for?
- Egg allergy: two of the three patented ingredients come from egg. If you are allergic to egg, don't take it. If you're not sure, ask your doctor first.
- Vegetarians: it isn't vegetarian. Ovomet® and BonePep™ come from egg, and according to Wellous, UC-II® comes from chicken sternum cartilage.
- Children: not recommended. MOVEON is made for adults and has no children's serving.
- Amount: one sachet a day, after breakfast, never more than one. If you miss a day, take one sachet as normal the next day; don't take two.
- Stopping: nothing rebounds. The daily support simply stops building up.
If you feel unwell for a while, get a rash or notice anything that worries you, stop and ask a doctor.
Who should ask a doctor first?
- Allergic to egg: do not take it.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding: ask your doctor first.
- Taking prescription medicine: ask your doctor or pharmacist before you start.
- Managing a long-term condition: ask your doctor or pharmacist first.
- Seeing a doctor, having injections, or had joint surgery: MOVEON doesn't replace your doctor's guidance. Stay with your doctor's plan and tell them you're taking it.
How is it different from taking painkillers every day?
Painkillers mute the alarm; whatever is setting it off carries on. MOVEON's approach is daily support for all five joint components: cartilage, synovial fluid, tendons and ligaments, subchondral bone and the inflammatory environment. In the 180-day UC-II® trial, 17.5% of people on UC-II® needed a painkiller at least once, against 48.3% on placebo (an ingredient study, not a trial of MOVEON itself).
If you take medicine prescribed by your doctor, don't stop it on your own. Ask your doctor first.
Frequently asked questions
Does it contain egg? I'm allergic.
Yes. Ovomet® comes from eggshell membrane and BonePep™ from egg yolk. If you are allergic to egg, please don't take it. If you're not sure, ask your doctor first.
Can I take it with medicine, or while pregnant?
If you take prescription medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist before you start. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask your doctor first.
I've had surgery on the joint. Can I take it?
A joint that has had surgery is usually the one people most want to protect. Ovomet® supports the tendons and ligaments around it and BonePep™ the bone beneath. It doesn't replace your surgeon's guidance, so tell your doctor before you start.
Can I take it long term?
The research runs 90 to 180 days, and we suggest finishing the 96-day plan. After that, you can decide with your advisor whether to keep it up. If you have a long-term condition, ask your doctor first.
Is it halal?
Yes. MOVEON is Halal-certified by JAKIM, and a Halvec Laboratories certificate of analysis confirms no porcine ingredients.
